Agent: Good afternoon. May I see your passport and booking confirmation, please?

Passenger: Here you go. I'm on flight VN352 to Bangkok, departing at six fifteen.

Agent: Thank you. Let me pull up your reservation. I see you booked an economy seat. Would you prefer a window or an aisle seat?

Passenger: Aisle, please. And I'd like to check two bags.

Agent: Certainly. The first checked bag is included in your ticket. The second bag has a fee of thirty dollars. Each bag must weigh no more than twenty-three kilograms. Let me weigh them. The first one is twenty-one kilograms — that's fine. The second one is twenty-six kilograms, which is three kilos over the limit.

Passenger: Oh no. What are my options?

Agent: You can either move some items to your carry-on — you're allowed one carry-on up to seven kilograms — or pay an excess baggage fee of fifteen dollars per kilogram over the limit. That would be forty-five dollars for three kilos.

Passenger: I'll move some things to my carry-on. Can I do that here?

Agent: Of course. There's a repacking area just behind you. Take your time and come back when you're ready. By the way, boarding starts at five thirty at Gate B7. I'd recommend being there by five fifteen at the latest.
