Part 2 Practice — University course registration transcript

Advisor: Come in, Tom. I've looked at your transcript from last semester. You did well — mostly B-pluses and two A-minuses. So, what are you thinking for next semester?

Student: Thanks, Professor Lee. I want to take Advanced Statistics and International Economics. But I'm also interested in an elective — maybe Environmental Science.

Advisor: Good choices. However, Advanced Statistics has a prerequisite. You need to have completed Intermediate Statistics with at least a B grade. Let me check. Yes, you got a B-plus in that, so you're eligible.

Student: Great! What about the schedule? I'm worried about time conflicts.

Advisor: Let me see. Advanced Statistics is on Mondays and Wednesdays from ten to eleven thirty. International Economics is on Tuesdays and Thursdays, same time slot. So there's no overlap. Environmental Science, though, is on Mondays from nine thirty to eleven — that clashes with Statistics by thirty minutes.

Student: Oh, that's a problem. Is there another section for Environmental Science?

Advisor: There's a Friday afternoon section from two to four thirty. It's a longer single session, but it avoids any conflicts. The instructor for that section is Dr. Pham — she's excellent. I'd recommend that one.

Student: Perfect, I'll take the Friday section then. One more thing — when does registration open?

Advisor: Online registration opens next Monday at eight a.m. I'd suggest logging in right at eight because popular courses fill up within the first hour. Save your course codes in advance so you can register quickly.
