Linking words là gì? Tại sao quan trọng cho VSTEP?

Linking words (từ nối / từ liên kết) là những từ hoặc cụm từ dùng để kết nối các câu, các đoạn văn lại với nhau, giúp bài viết mạch lạc và logic hơn. Trong tiêu chí chấm điểm VSTEP Writing, coherence and cohesion (tính mạch lạc và liên kết) chiếm một phần điểm quan trọng.

Nếu bạn chỉ viết những câu rời rạc mà không dùng linking words, bài viết sẽ bị đánh giá thấp dù ngữ pháp đúng. Ngược lại, sử dụng linking words đa dạng và chính xác sẽ giúp bạn đạt điểm cao hơn.

2. Lưu ý quan trọng khi dùng linking words trong VSTEP

• Không lạm dụng: Mỗi đoạn văn chỉ cần 2-3 từ nối, không nhồi nhét quá nhiều.
• Đa dạng: Không lặp lại cùng một từ nối. Thay vì dùng "however" 5 lần, hãy thay bằng "nevertheless", "on the other hand", "yet".
• Đúng ngữ pháp: Phân biệt giới từ (despite + N/V-ing) và liên từ (although + clause).
• Dấu câu: Sau từ nối đầu câu, dùng dấu phẩy: However, I disagree.
