Kết bài là cơ hội cuối cùng để ghi điểm với giám khảo. Một kết bài tốt cần ngắn gọn (30-40 từ), tóm tắt lại quan điểm và để lại ấn tượng. Dưới đây là 5 cách viết kết bài hiệu quả.
Cách 1: Tóm tắt quan điểm (Summary)
Cách cơ bản và an toàn nhất — viết lại thesis statement bằng từ ngữ khác.
Mẫu:
- In conclusion, I firmly believe that [quan điểm] because [lý do chính 1] and [lý do chính 2].
- To sum up, the evidence clearly shows that [kết luận].
Ví dụ:
In conclusion, I firmly believe that learning a foreign language from an early age is highly beneficial, as it enhances cognitive development and improves future career prospects.
Cách 2: Đưa khuyến nghị (Recommendation)
Phù hợp với dạng đề Problem & Solution hoặc Opinion.
Mẫu:
- In light of the above, I would recommend that [khuyến nghị cụ thể].
- Therefore, it is essential that governments / schools / individuals [hành động].
Ví dụ:
All things considered, it is essential that schools incorporate physical education into their daily schedule rather than treating it as an optional activity. Only through consistent effort can we address the growing health crisis among young people.
Cách 3: Dự đoán tương lai (Prediction)
Nêu hệ quả nếu xu hướng tiếp tục hoặc nếu hành động được thực hiện.
Mẫu:
- If this trend continues, it is likely that [dự đoán].
- Without prompt action, [hệ quả tiêu cực].
Ví dụ:
In conclusion, if governments fail to invest in renewable energy, the consequences of climate change will become increasingly severe. However, with collective effort, a sustainable future remains within reach.
Cách 4: Quan điểm cân bằng (Balanced View)
Phù hợp với dạng "Discuss both views and give your opinion".
Mẫu:
- While both sides have valid points, I am more inclined to believe that [quan điểm].
- Although [view A] has its merits, on balance, I believe [view B] is more convincing.
Ví dụ:
To sum up, while working from home offers undeniable flexibility, I am more inclined to believe that a hybrid model combining both remote and office work provides the best outcome for both employees and employers.
Cách 5: Kết hợp tóm tắt + khuyến nghị
Cách mạnh nhất — dùng 2 câu: câu 1 tóm tắt, câu 2 khuyến nghị hoặc dự đoán.
Ví dụ:
In conclusion, social media has more drawbacks than benefits for young people, primarily due to its impact on mental health and academic performance. Parents and educators should therefore establish clear guidelines to help teenagers use these platforms responsibly.
Lỗi cần tránh khi viết kết bài
- Thêm ý mới: Kết bài KHÔNG đưa luận điểm hoặc ví dụ mới — chỉ tóm tắt.
- Bắt đầu bằng "In a nutshell": Cụm này quá informal cho VSTEP.
- Quá dài: Kết bài chỉ nên 1-2 câu (30-40 từ).
- Mâu thuẫn với mở bài: Quan điểm kết bài phải nhất quán với thesis statement.
- Không có kết bài: Bỏ kết bài = mất điểm Task Achievement nghiêm trọng.
