Word Formation — Hậu tố danh từ (Noun Suffixes)
Hậu tố (suffix) là phần được thêm vào cuối một từ gốc để tạo từ mới, thường thay đổi từ loại. Trong phần này, chúng ta tập trung vào các hậu tố tạo danh từ — kỹ năng quan trọng giúp nhận diện từ loại trong bài thi VSTEP.
1. Hậu tố -TION / -SION (động từ → danh từ)

Mẹo nhận diện hậu tố danh từ
- -tion/-sion: phổ biến nhất, thường từ động từ → danh từ (educate → education).
- -ment: thường từ động từ → danh từ (develop → development).
- -ness: thường từ tính từ → danh từ (happy → happiness). Lưu ý: y → i trước -ness.
- -ity: thường từ tính từ -ble/-ive/-al → danh từ (possible → possibility).
- -ance/-ence: phân biệt bằng cách nhớ từ gốc có -ant hay -ent.
